Resist US backed Israeli attacks on Gaza!
Shame on Indian Government’s silence on Israel’s Aggression!
“The incursion and bombardment of Gaza is not about destroying Hamas. It is not about stopping rocket fire into Israel, it is not about achieving peace.
The Israeli decision to rain death and destruction on Gaza, to use lethal weapons of the modern battlefield on a largely defenseless civilian population, is the final phase in a decades-long campaign to ethnically-cleanse Palestinians.
Israel uses sophisticated attack jets and naval vessels to bomb densely-crowded refugee camps, schools, apartment blocks, mosques, and slums to attack a population that has no air force, no air defense, no navy, no heavy weapons, no artillery units, no mechanized armor, no command in control, no army… and calls it a war. It is not a war, it is murder.” Noam Chomsky on Israeli strikes on Gaza.
The all-out offensive attacks of Israeli army continue to rage the Gaza strip. The Israeli government has been arguing that the attack is a response to the month long rocket attacks on the civilian population of Israel by Hamas. But, the reality of the situation can be understood from the fact that in the current attack around 48 Palestinians have been killed and more than 400 are seriously injured, while the death toll has reached 4 in Israel and around 30 injured. Interestingly US and its other western allies have decided to either keep mum or open their mouths in support of Israel’s ‘self-defence’.
White House Deputy National Security Adviser Ben Rhodes was quoted in the Wall Street Journal saying, “The Israelis are going to make decisions about their own military tactics and operations… There’s a broad preference for de-escalation if it can be achieved in a way that ends that threat to Israeli citizens.” Echoing US, EU foreign policy Chief Catherine Ashton while condemning the Hamas rocket attack, argued that Israel has the “right to protect its population from these kind of attacks”. This criminal negligence of US and EU about the protection of Palestinians from the ‘genocidal attacks’ of Israel comes from their larger politics vis-à-vis west Asia in general and Iran in particular. Of course the US president and the European Union had reasons to be honoured with the Nobel Prize!
This attack by the Israeli military with an overt and covert support from US and its western allies should be seen as a preparation for their long cherished dream of attacking Iran. The Arab spring and the popular movements in Syria and Tunisia had made US to reconsider its evil designs on Iran. The present attacks, while shrinking Palestine further, also allow US to gauge the support and solidarity which the recent uprisings have brought within nations of western Asia. Till now the results have been a happy going for US, Israel and other western powers as except Egypt, Tunisia and Qatar, there has been no full-fledged support to either the Hamas or the Palestinians.
These attacks along the Zionist expansionist agenda have also to be seen in the context of the internal politics of Israel. Elections are due next year and the right wing parties with their full support for the attack on Gaza are trying to mobilize and woo voters in their favour. The miniscule protests by the Communist party of Israel against the attack on Gaza have been nullified by the right wing mobilization in favour of the attack. Indian government, along with many other national governments, has maintained a complete silence on the issue which exposes their tactical support to the Israeli aggression.

Dear Friend,
I commend your activism towards humanitarian issues arising not only in India but worldwide as well. You have passionately written about the perceived ethnic cleansing of Palestinians by Israeli forces in your pamphlet which is relevant, I understand. At the same time it exposes your hyperopic vision wherein you are able to see something bad happening at a very remote place; something less relevant when compared with what’s happening in our own courtyard. How can you turn a blind eye towards ethnic cleansing of Hindus in Kashmir or the almost total cleansing/ forceful conversion/ gang rapes and torture of Hindus, Sikhs and Christians in Pakistan. The very neighbour you guys want to connect by ‘Aman ki Asha’ has ethnically cleansed it’s minorities population, from 20% in 1947 to less than 2% in 2000 (reference Mr MJ Akbar article in DNA dated 04 Feb 13). How do you justify friendship with a criminal neighbour and hatered against a distant country relevance of which in our context is immaterial.
Are you a group of sane guys representing the young India or a shadow of the present political mess, in fact one more in the making. Let me and whole of India see the difference when you raise your voice against the Kashmiri separatist (including a demand for early hanging of Afzal Guru)and the rouge state of Pakistan.
warm wishes
Dr Bill
