Hathras Gang-Rape: Shame on Delhi Police for detaining peaceful protesters!

Yogi Adityanath must resign!

Uttar Pradesh under the regime of CM Yogi Adityanath has turned into a nightmare for women and dalits. The rising atrocities against women and Dalits show the failure of law and order The rape victim of Hathras, a 19 year old Dalit woman who was murdered by Upper Castes of Hathras. UP police illegally cremated her body despite her family wanting to do the last rites. This clearly shows how dalits are treated and how institutional discrimination against dalits in UP is.

On 30th September, AISA, AIPWA and other women’s and student organisation staged a protest at UP Bhavan asking for justice to Dalit Rape victim from Hathras. Right when the protesters reached UP Bhavan, Delhi Police in their typical manner started forcefully detaining peaceful protesters. All students and activists, including AISA Delhi State Secretary Prasenjeet Kumar were detained to Mandir Marg Police Station.

The protest continued at the police station, despite attempts by Delhi Police to curb the voices of protesters. Activists of AISA along with other students continued raising slogans within the premise of Mandir Marg.

We demand resignation of UP CM Yogi Adityanath, arrest and punishment of the UP CM along with senior UP police and District administrators under the Prevention of Atrocities Act, for the secret midnight cremation of the Dalit rape victim of Hathras!

UP CM Yogi Adityanath must answer to the people of India! UP Police must take responsibility of illegally cremating the victim’s body!

Down with Brahmanical rape culture! Down with casteist UP CM!
