AISA resolves a ‘Fight Against NEP 2020’ at the conclusion of its National Council Meeting!
AISA National Council Meeting was held at North 24 Paraganas on 8th and 9th December 2021. The first day of the meeting was convened by paying tribute to the 14 civilians who were killed by Security Forces in Nagaland. AISA Council demanded immediate action against the perpetrators of the massacre and the resignation of Amit Shah along with the complete withdrawal of AFSPA.
AISA demands the Modi Govt. to accept all demands of the SKM and farmers’ movement regarding legalising MSP, compensation for all martyred farmers, revoke cases filed against farmers.
AISA National Council congratulates and salutes the farmers’ movement for their historic victory in defeating pro-corporate farm laws and bending the government through there sheer will and struggle! AISA takes inspiration from this historic victory that has strengthened democracy and people’s movement across the country today.
AISA salutes the youth of UP for fighting for employment and dignity through their “UP Mangey Rozgar”. AISA also appeals to the student and youth to join hands and unite against unemployment.
AISA began the second day of its council meeting with a march paying tribute to the Freedom fighters of Independence and social Justice in Ashoknagar, North 24 Parganas. Long live the legacy of Comrade Sushil Sen, Pritlata Waddedar, and Begum Rokeya Sakhawat Hossain.
AISA will celebrate the legacy of 75 years of Independence and freedom movement through its “We the People” campaign across campuses all over the country. AISA will expose the pseudo-nationalist and pro-british role of the RSS in the freedom movement.
AISA demands that the exclusionary and discriminatory NEP be immediately scrapped. NEP exactly like the ‘Fram Laws’ has been imposed on the students and teachers in the most undemocratic way through a press conference. NEP talks of implementing exclusionary online education through a 60/40 model of 60% offline and 40% online classes.
NEP is an anti-reservation and anti-social justice policy which fails to mention reservation even once. It seeks to replace the grant model of funding with a loan model of funding leading to massive fee hikes across various universities in the country. It recommends closing down of schools and colleges with a lack in teachers’ strength leading to massive dropouts.
AISA will initiate a 50 days Campaign to roll back NEP beginning on 21st December. Rolling across campuses in the country, students will gherao Parliament before the 2022 budget session.
Sandeep Saurav, AISA’s National General Secretary and MLA from Paliganj, Bihar said “AISA will hold multiple yatra and conventions against NEP as part of the Roll Back NEP campaign across states and campuses.
N Sai Balaji, National President of AISA, further elaborated the various provision of NEP. “NEP brings in the provision of four year undergraduate courses with multiple entry and exit points. It systematises massive drop-outs of students from higher education. The statistics surrounding ‘drop-outs’ indicates that students coming from marginalised sections are the ones worst hit, making NEP’s provision for four year courses a tool in the further alienation of students from these sections.”
Prasenjeet, AISA Working General Secretary further added “AISA will campaign across campuses remembering ’75 Years of Independence and Freedom Struggle’ through ‘We the People of India’ campaign. Along with this AISA will unite the the youth of the country for jobs and dignity.”
